It is hard to believe that over three years ago, I began looking at writing a Blog. I had hoped to have posted at the beginning of 2023 but that didn’t happen. I went on a very steep learning curve. I am still learning. I have learnt so much in the past years. In three days’, it will be three years since that first post was published. It was called “A New Year Dawns”. This is the link: A New Year Dawns… – Ancestor Family
107.
This is my 107th post! I would never have guessed that I would be at this stage. Oh, there were times when I wondered why I was doing this. I look at this in several ways.
The main reason is to get everyone to write their story about their ancestors and even yourself. I have provided many examples of how I go about doing research and why it matters. Filling in the gaps to what may appear as someone boring makes a difference. Every one of our ancestors are important. Remember, if they didn’t do what they did, you wouldn’t be reading this now.

Repeat.

I know I repeat myself not just once but many times. Most ignore me but that’s okay. Each person has their own opinion – we are not robots – well, not yet anyway. It is fairly easy for me to get an idea and run with it. Most of the time this happens as I “rabbit on” about things. Put it this way, I am just part of that voice in your head. You may not realise what is going on but somewhere, someday you’ll remember something I wrote and you won’t even know where you saw it. Here is one: WRITE YOUR STORY. Yes, I do repeat myself. How else does one get the message out there?
Three Days.
In 3 days, I will hit the third year of publishing. The statistics on the number of words written is a bit out there.
I started out, attempting to limit each post to around 500 words. If you’ve been with me from the start, you would have seen, posts having a part one, two etc… Some of the posts towards the end of 2025 exceeded 1000 words!

If you are not aware the AncestorFamily YouTube channel is up and running. This coming Monday on YouTube will be a birthday celebration. You are invited.
Where to Now?
This is a very good question. My head is full of ideas, so it’ll most likely be, go with the flow. The YouTube channel will be covering the research basics from the start.

This will be mostly all Australian content, using all Australian records. If you’re not aware of Australian records, look at blog 104: “Down Under with a Difference”. There is a list of where to locate records by State etc. This will be used in the YouTube presentations…
Last thing.
